ABOUT THE BLOG

The Alternative Typewriter is a hybrid of sorts. I’m fascinated with the interconnectivity between arts, mediums and fields of study and its’ this fascination that defines my cultural ADHD. Nothing excites me more than a journey through the threads between works of art, movements and history, which why The Alternative Typewriter will move on from theme to theme every month. A single point of view and a single focus become tiresome quickly and I’m not known to persevere, when things stagnate.

Because I am a writer, the majority of the posts will concern writing, books and my thoughts on certain books (I’m not ready yet to cease my functions as a reviewer), but I surround myself with music and the visual arts, so a good deal of the blog (the weekends mostly) will be devoted to these passions of mine. As a certified geek (I have the practice license), I reserve the right to talk smack, hyperventilate with an endearing excitement and complain about all things geek.

What you can expect me to cover is fantastical literature, folklore, psychology, sexuality, GLBT topics (though mostly the role of GLBT people in arts and fiction), SEO, social media and films among other topics that I am sure will become interesting to me.

One thing I want to clarify: I’m not an expert on anything other than my opinion (and eccentric taste, though I still need a certificate). Everything I post here reflects 1) the information I have at hand, 2) an emotional reading of the situation and 3) my intuition. My words are not the laws of reality (though if an all powerful being would grant me that ability, who am I to refuse) and I am more than open to have a meaningful discourse, so leave the pitchforks at all, folks. I don’t tolerate abusive behavior or hurtful expletives, unless you’re being sarcastic. If you cross lines, you will suffer the ultimate penalty and will be banished from this corner of the Internet.

Sometimes I’ll be polite and educated, others I will probably compete for the title Village Idiot. I might offend people unintentionally, when trying to be funny. I am human after all.
